Trapped in the wrong housing

Imagine being in your twenties and having to be in bed at 7.30pm, every night. Imagine being trapped inside all day, every day. Imagine living with people three times your age, retiring from life at the age of 21.

We all want to achieve our dreams, but for many disabled people those goals - getting a job, having a family, just getting out and about - these things are just dreams. Poor housing and poor support leaves thousands trapped in a life from which their skills alone cannot help them escape.

Vast numbers of disabled young people are denied the right to live, work and study because of barriers put in the way.

In the UK today over 40% of disabled young people have nowhere suitable to live.

It doesn't have to be this way.
Livability has launched the Freedom to Live campaign.
